Mar 12, 2025

What if the key to emotional healing lies within the ancient teachings of yoga and personal introspection? Join us on the Soulfull Sound podcast as we uncover the transformative journey of Reema Datta, author of "The Yogi's Way: Transform your Mind, Health and Reality." Shifting from a career at the United Nations, Reema shares her remarkable shift toward inner peace following the events of 9/11 and a personal crisis that spurred a deeper understanding of yoga's power to manage emotions and transform the mind. Her story is a testament to the mind's dual nature as both a healer and a potential source of turmoil, offering listeners a chance to explore their own paths to emotional balance.

As we journey into the depths of the yoga practice, listeners are invited to explore the intersection of Eastern and Western philosophies that underpin Reema's teachings. Yoga is not just a physical practice but a profound method of self-discovery that encourages questioning and experiential learning. Discover how adopting a child's curiosity can lead to accessing deeper dimensions of the self and connecting with one's soul. By exploring breath awareness and the power of community support through "mitras," this episode offers both seasoned practitioners and curious newcomers insights into the foundational elements that make yoga a universal pursuit transcending cultural barriers.

In our conversation, Reema introduces the empowering concept of "intelligent regret," which advocates for self-compassion and growth without the weight of guilt. We also delve into honouring the cultural origins of spiritual practices and the balance between tradition and personal transformation. Through the three-step process of Shravan, Manan, and Nididhyasan, listeners are guided on a path to inner peace and cultural appreciation. Tune in for a discussion that promises to enrich your understanding of yoga's role in fostering a harmonious life, offering timeless wisdom for healing and self-discovery.
