Generational Wisdom and Healing

conversation Dec 18, 2024

What happens when three generations come together to explore the depths of spiritual growth and healing? On our 100th episode of the Soulfull Sound Podcast, we welcome two extraordinary guests: my mother, Leonora Niles, a retired nurse and spiritual leader, and my daughter, Michaela Hunte, a counsellor and psychotherapist with a creative arts background.

Growing up, my mother, always described clouds and trees as symbols of thought transformation and inner growth. Together, we navigate the labyrinth of generational wisdom, where clouds whisper old stories and trees stand tall with ancestral strength. Michaela's journey through creativity, nurtured by familial support, reflects the profound effect of upbringing on our quest for personal dreams. Our conversation offers a tapestry of insights, painted with the brushstrokes of maternal love and creative exploration.

Generational growth often unfolds invisibly, like the silent stretching of a young sapling reaching for sunlight. As we explore this invisible process, we draw parallels to the internal transformations shaped by experiences and influences. Our dialogue reveals how acknowledging growing pains—both visible and hidden—can become a beacon of strength. By reframing these pains as milestones of evolution, we embrace the lessons passed down through the shadows and light of our ancestry. We ponder the notion of "superwoman syndrome," the pressure to achieve everything, and find solace in allowing ourselves to receive support, echoing the cyclical nature of life itself.

This episode unravels the essence of family relationships, emphasising love, compassion, and forgiveness. We reflect on the impact of self-compassion and the transformative power of understanding and forgiving our parents' limitations. This heartfelt discussion celebrates the profound impact of family bonds, underscoring how kindness and compassion—both for ourselves and others—lay the foundation for a kinder, more connected world.

About Our Guests:

Leonora Niles is a retired nurse, spiritual guide, and revered mentor often affectionately known as The Soul Doctor. With a lifelong devotion to service, Leonora has been a compassionate presence during life’s most profound transitions—welcoming souls into the world as a midwife and tenderly guiding them onward through her work in elderly care.

In 1983, Leonora founded Shallum, a transformative spiritual group dedicated to supporting individuals on their personal journeys of growth and healing. Through a unique blend of metaphysical teachings and holistic practices, she has spent decades empowering others to connect with their inner wisdom and embrace life’s sacred rhythms. A source of inspiration to many, Leonora continues to embody love, grace, and the profound art of soulful transformation.

Michaela Hunte is a psychotherapist whose journey into healing was deeply shaped by a rich background in the arts, including training in dance, acting, and singing. With a BA in Acting and Physical Theatre, Michaela developed a deep understanding of the human experience through creative expression. However, it was through her own inner work and personal transformation that she discovered the profound healing potential of psychotherapy and counselling. This shift in career was driven by Michaela’s desire to help others through the same transformative guidance, support, and love that was essential in her own personal growth.

As a therapist, Michaela creates a nurturing, empathetic space where each individual’s unique story is honoured. Grounded in transpersonal, existential, and phenomenological approaches, her practice integrates both psychological insight and spiritual understanding, acknowledging the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. Michaela believes that every person deserves the opportunity to heal, grow, and reconnect with themselves. With a deep sense of compassion, she offers support through life’s transitions, emotional challenges, and personal exploration, guiding clients to discover relief, clarity, and a deeper connection to themselves.
